My heart breaks for all the couples who are having to change their wedding plans. Whether the changes include rescheduling to a later date or significantly cutting the guest list to meet the current standards, I believe that the added stress for these couples can only make their relationships stronger. I was blessed to be the photographer for a wedding that had been planned for months but had to be completely restructured right before the state shut down. This beautiful couple had to rearrange their plans multiple times...from the big church wedding and reception...to a small church ceremony...to a small ceremony in the backyard of the house the bride grew up in...and even then had to move up the date with less than 72 hours notice to prepare the backyard for the wedding ceremony.
Despite all the changes, I have to tell you that this is one of the most joyous weddings I have had the pleasure of shooting! Laughter and smiles were plentiful as this couple prepared and ultimately said their "I do"s. All the usual pomp and circumstance of a wedding were stripped away and it was very clear that the only thing on the minds of the bride and groom was that they were finally being married. They had given up all of their original wedding plans in order to just share in the joy of marrying their best friend in the presence of their nearest and dearest friends and family. This quarantine with all it's uncertainty and the changes in social norms in the wake of Covid-19 have been a strain for everyone, but in the midst of all this I find it heartwarming to view love in one of its purest forms. I hope that you find these images of true love as refreshing as I do!
With much love and hope,
Kim
